My name is Mike Lewis a Civil Celebrant with 10 years’ experience leading and guiding funerals and weddings in the BOP. I am also a Justice of the Peace. I come from a customer service and public speaking background and pride myself in building rapport with all clients.I collaborate closely with funeral directors and families to establish what is suitable, appropriate and then advise people of their choices. Pre arranging funeral services is another service that I offer. My preference is to use real language to normalise the funeral / memorial / celebration service by sharing stories about life, living and what the person meant to family and friends. The satisfaction I get from my role is helping families and their friends to navigate their journey of arranging and delivering a dignified funeral / memorial/ celebration service to farewell a loved one.

I am a dedicated and passionate individual whose life journey has been as diverse as it has been rewarding. Over the years, I have worn many hats: teacher, police officer, minister, funeral director, and now, celebrant. Each role has shaped my character and deepened my commitment to serving others in meaningful ways. I am married to Elizabeth, and together we have five wonderful sons, four beautiful daughter-in-law (who we cherish as our own) and four energetic grandchildren who fill our days with joy.
When I’m not working, you’ll find me running (I am an avid park run junky), indulging in my love of V8 supercars, getting lost in a good book, chasing the grandkids or relaxing at our beach house. I am currently restoring a 70s caravan, fueled by dreams of future road trips and new adventures. Life, for me, about embracing every experience with enthusiasm and gratitude, always seeking to create lasting memories with family and friends. I would love to help your family do the same.

As a funeral celebrant, I am a caring and empathetic professional, whose passion and heartfelt desire is to help people in their time of grief and loss. I believe that being a good listener is essential in helping families honour their loved ones. I take the time to really understand each family’s story, values, and wishes, ensuring that the ceremony is a true reflection of the loved one being celebrated. It’s important to me to create a space where families feel comfortable sharing their memories and ideas, allowing us to design a meaningful celebration that feels just right for them. I know how significant these moments are, and I’m committed to guiding families through this process with compassion and care. Together, we can create a heartfelt tribute that beautifully honours your loved one’s life and provides comfort to those who are grieving.

“Navigate Your Way”
Glenda Gillgren/Funeral Celebrant
Kia ora, My name is Glenda Gillgren and I have recently embarked on the journey of becoming a Funeral Celebrant.
I have been a Social Worker for two decades but decided at the beginning of 2025 , after having been in a management role, that I wanted to get back to the grass roots of Social Work and work face to face with my community and to work hands on with those who are in need of support.
After having lost both my parents within a year of each other, I know how important it is to be supported through this process. This support allowed our family to be able to celebrate them both in the way through not only choices about how this happens, but also as a platform to be able to share our most valued memories of them along the way and in the process feeling safe and heard.
It would be my privilege to be able to support you in navigating a ceremony for your loved one that depicts a celebration of the life they have lived.
